Altar Guild
The St. Athanasius Altar Guild members aspire to be God’s angels sharing the spirit of love by assisting the rector and arranging the altar for worship services. The Guild’s dedicated ladies rotate each week fixing the Altar in preparation for each Sunday and any special services, such as Baptisms, Weddings, and funerals/memorial services.

 

 

Choir
Participating in divine worship services as a choir member is a sacred responsibility. Our choir is entrusted to be an active and integral part of the worship service at St. Athanasius and our members are called to respond to that trust accordingly. As choir members we offer our God-given talents to the faith, as a part of stewardship - the giving of "time and talents" - and at the same time enjoy the rewards of praising and serving God in song.

 

Acolytes
Being an acolyte takes a moderate amount practice and routine. The teenagers who work as in that field must be careful to not drop an important piece of the service or, God-forbid, trip on a robe as they step down the stairs. From an outside view it may appear simple to move a candle here or bow there but it takes a fair amount of mental work to do everything perfectly as to make the service run smoothly. Nonetheless, it is obvious each and every Acolyte plays a large role in setting an atmosphere of worship in our Church.

 

 

The Episcopal Church Women
The ECW aspires to build community through social activities, prayer and services. To this end, our contributions to the parish and community include hosting events such as the annual Pancake supper, Lenten Tea Celebration. We sponsor the UTO and CPC, assist families with funeral repast/celebrations, purchasing wine, wafers, candles for the church, and provide Thanksgiving fruit baskets to sick and shut-in members. May God continue to bless us as we pray, share and fellowship together.

 

Feed My Sheep Food Bank
Over the last Several years, this Outreach Ministry has faithfully distributed groceries, clothing, books, (esp. Bibles), heaters, fans, walkers, toys and almost any other items requested by the people we serve. Whatever the need has been, someone has always stepped up to the plate. Spiritual support is provided by Rev. Dr. Magoola and Mrs. Deborah Craig. We have been able to sustain this ministry, not only with the volunteers help of our St. “A” family, but also with the support of all of the other Episcopal Churches in the area as well many individuals, agencies, stores and banks. We are so appreciative of our St. “A” family for supporting our “cereal” drive. As always, Mr. Michael Robinson makes sure that St. ”A” is included in the National “Stamp Out Hunger Program”, sponsored by the post office. Annually we distribute over 4,000 bags of groceries. Clothing, books and other items are distributed to approximately 1,200 individuals and families. We thank our St. “A” family for sponsoring and supporting this much needed ministry in our community. College Women's Ministry
St. Athanasius has embarked on a new ministry to impact the Young Women at College of Coastal Georgia. This ministry mission is to reach out in friendship, faith, and wisdom to these college women, offering a social and emotional support system. Our vision is to provide programs and activities, both on and off campus, aligned to their interests, seeking to enrich their lives. Pursuing our goals to act as mentors, we hope to help create a network of career resources and organizational support to benefit these young women academically, now as well as after college graduation.
